What To Expect

Your first
visit,
step by step

Nothing about a first session should be a surprise. Here is the whole thing in order, what we will ask you, and the intake form to fill in before you arrive.

The walkthrough

Six steps,
start to
finish

The paperwork happens at home before you arrive, so your hour on the table stays an hour on the table.

01

Book online

Pick the treatment, the length and the time. No phone call, no waiting for a reply — the calendar is open around the clock, including after we have closed for the day.

02

Complete your intake form at home

Injuries, surgeries, medications, training load, what hurts and how long it has hurt. Specialized treatment is only possible after a thorough client history, and doing it before you arrive means we spend your appointment treating rather than writing.

03

Arrive five minutes early

3300 E. Broadway, Long Beach. Street parking on Broadway. Come as you are — you will be shown to the room and given time to change and settle. Wear whatever you are comfortable in; you undress only to your own comfort level and are draped throughout.

04

The assessment

Your therapist reads your history back to you, checks range of motion, and agrees the plan out loud before starting: which areas, how deep, and what we are trying to change today.

5–10 minutes of your session
05

The work

Soft tissue work, acupressure, myofascial release, trigger point therapy and stretching, mixed to what your body needs. Pressure is checked as we go — “tell me” is always the right answer, and there is no prize for enduring more than you want to.

06

Recovery and aftercare

If you booked the plunge, sauna or Med4Elite, that runs straight after the table. Then water, a plain-language summary of what we found, and what to do — or avoid — for the next 48 hours.

Practicalities

The small
questions

The things people email to ask before a first appointment.

  • How early should I arrive? Five minutes is plenty if your intake is already in. Ten if it isn't.
  • What do I wear? Whatever you arrive in. You undress only to your own comfort level and are draped for the whole session.
  • Will it hurt? Deep work can be intense but should never be something you brace against. Pressure is checked as we go and changed the moment you say so.
  • Can I use my FSA or HSA card? Yes — massage therapy is eligible care under most plans, and we give you the receipt yours needs.
  • Where do I park? Street parking on Broadway, right outside.
  • Can I book recovery on its own? Yes. The plunge, sauna and Med4Elite are all bookable in 30-minute slots without a massage.
  • I'm booking for someone under 18. A parent or guardian completes the intake and stays for the session.
  • I need to move my appointment. Change it in the booking system, or call 562·704·6480 during studio hours.

Client intake

Before you
arrive

Five minutes now buys you five minutes of treatment later. Your therapist reads this before you walk in, and it stays with your file for every visit after.

Consent

This is emailed straight to the studio and read by your therapist before your session. We use it for your treatment only — we never sell or share it. It is sent over ordinary email, which is not encrypted end to end, so if you would rather give us your history in person, skip this form entirely and we will take it at the studio instead; just arrive ten minutes early. Questions about how it is handled? Call 562·704·6480.
